Tuesday, November 3: Kilroy Coffee Klatch at the Warhawk Air Museum
Every first Tuesday, the Warhawk Air Museum at 201 Municipal Drive in Nampa opens its doors for the Kilroy Coffee Klatch, a monthly gathering that has grown into Idaho's largest get-together of veterans. Coffee, donuts, and conversation run from 10:00 AM to noon, free for any veteran and open to the general public with museum admission. The tradition began in 2001 when a group of World War II veterans asked the museum for a monthly place to meet, and it is the kind of living history that makes November feel meaningful. The Veterans Day ceremony at the Caldwell Veterans Memorial Hall follows on Wednesday, November 11, and the Idaho Veterans Parade steps off in downtown Boise on Saturday, November 14. Read our full Veterans Day guide. See the full November calendar.
Wednesday, November 4: Idaho Steelheads Hockey
The Idaho Steelheads host the Rapid City Rush at Idaho Central Arena in Boise on Wednesday, November 4, an early-season chance to catch ECHL hockey indoors on a cold November evening. Boise's downtown arena draws a lively crowd for home games, and the drive from Greenleaf is about 35 minutes via I-84. Tickets through the arena.
Thursday, November 5: Boise Cultural Showcase: International Craft Fair
JUMP at 1000 W Myrtle Street in Boise hosts the free Boise Cultural Showcase: International Craft Fair on Thursday, November 5 starting at 5:00 PM, part of the city's Cultural Showcase celebrating crafts and traditions from around the world. It is a free, family-friendly evening inside one of the valley's most creative gathering places, about 35 minutes from Greenleaf.
Friday and Saturday, November 6-7: Fall Flights and the Girls Day Out Expo
The World Center for Birds of Prey in Boise hosts Fall Flights on Friday, November 6 at 5668 W Flying Hawk Lane, with the center's eagles, falcons, and owls in open-air flight demonstrations. And on Saturday, November 7, the Girls Day Out Expo brings vendor booths, shopping, and giveaways to Expo Idaho in Boise. Both are easy day trips from Greenleaf, and both make the point that the Treasure Valley stays busy well after harvest season ends.
The First Full Holiday Weekend Is One Step Closer
The weekend of November 6-8 brings Jo Koy to the Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa on Saturday, November 7, while the Veterans Day ceremony at the Caldwell Veterans Memorial Hall follows November 11 and the Idaho Veterans Parade fills downtown Boise on Saturday, November 14, with the Winter Wonderland Festival's 1.5 million lights opening at Indian Creek Plaza on November 20. The calendar is filling exactly the way small-town living near Greenleaf should: plenty to do, and a quiet place to come home to.
Greenleaf Is the Quiet Base for All of It
Living at 20602 Academy Rd means the noise of the fall calendar is optional: festivals, hockey, and holiday markets are all close enough to enjoy, and the quiet country roads, fully fenced yard, and stone fire pit are close enough to come home to. If this life sounds right, contact me to tour the home and see how easy the balance is.
