This Weekend Near Greenleaf: Apple Days and Fright Night, October 23-25
The biggest harvest weekend of the season lands Friday through Sunday, October 23-25, right next door to Greenleaf. Apple Days at Cherry Hill Farms runs Friday and Saturday with u-pick apples and fresh-pressed cider, the 208 Fright Night Halloween Festival fills the Ford Idaho Center on Saturday, and Hide & Seek with the Caldwell Police Department takes over Indian Creek Plaza the same day, all within an easy drive of 20602 Academy Rd. There is also a road closure to plan around: State Highway 55 between Lake Avenue and Midway Road closes Friday through Monday for a bridge overlay, with detours on I-84, State Highway 19 (the highway that runs through Greenleaf itself), and US 95.
Apple Days at Cherry Hill Farms: Friday and Saturday, October 23-24
Cherry Hill Farms at 19125 Apricot Lane in Caldwell hosts its biggest weekend of the season Friday and Saturday, October 23-24. U-pick apples and fresh-pressed cider headline Apple Days, alongside the farm's 8-acre corn maze, u-pick pumpkin patch, barrel-train and cow-train rides, tube slides, and farm animals. The farm is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 AM to 2 PM and 5 to 8 PM, with an early 3 PM close on October 31. About 10 minutes from 20602 Academy Rd in Greenleaf, it is a full morning or afternoon of harvest fun. Arrive early for the best picking. Read our full Apple Days guide.
Friday Night: Pumpkin Plunge in Nampa
The Nampa Recreation Center at 131 Constitution Way hosts the annual Pumpkin Plunge on Friday, October 23 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM, a family Halloween celebration that has become a late-October tradition in Nampa. It is a warm, well-lit way to kick off the Halloween countdown, about 20 minutes from Greenleaf, and it pairs easily with a Friday apple run at Cherry Hill Farms on the way home.
Saturday, October 24: A Full Harvest Day
Saturday stacks a remarkable list of events around the valley. The 208 Fright Night Halloween Festival brings trick-or-treating, costume contests, games, and food vendors under one roof at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, a warm alternative for families. Hide & Seek with CPD turns Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell into a giant game of hide and seek with officers and families, free and playful. Boo at the Zoo runs Saturday and Sunday at Zoo Boise with trick-or-treat stations, costume parades, and animal enrichment. And Greenleaf's own school, Greenleaf Friends Academy, holds its annual Fall Gala from 5:30 to 10:00 PM at the NNU Brandt Center Grand Lobby in Nampa, with dinner and live and silent auctions supporting the school.
Sunday: Amarillo By Morning at the Nampa Civic Center
The Nampa Civic Center closes out its October calendar on Sunday, October 25 at 7:00 PM with Amarillo By Morning, a George Strait tribute show. It is a relaxed way to cap a full weekend, about 20 minutes from 20602 Academy Rd in Greenleaf. Tickets through the venue.
Plan Around the Highway 55 Closure, October 23-26
Idaho Transportation Department crews are closing State Highway 55 between Lake Avenue and Midway Road in Caldwell from Friday, October 23 through Monday, October 26 while they overlay the Wilson Drain bridge. The signed detour routes traffic on I-84, State Highway 19, and US 95. State Highway 19 is the same two-lane road that runs through Greenleaf, so many local trips stay simple, but if your weekend route crosses Highway 55 toward Nampa or Boise, build in a few extra minutes or follow the signed detour. It is a small reminder that even a busy harvest weekend in the Treasure Valley keeps its small-town pace.
A Home Base for the Season's Biggest Weekend
After a weekend of apple picking and festivals, 20602 Academy Rd is the kind of home you want to come back to. The fully fenced yard and stone fire pit are ready for crisp October evenings, the covered patio can host neighbors before the weather turns, and the solar array with battery backup keeps the house comfortable through longer fall nights. If you have been thinking about what it would be like to live minutes from all of this, the timing is a good one: schedule a tour before the holiday season picks up.
