The Treasure Valley's holiday light season kicks off in mid-November, and nearly all of it is within a 25- to 35-minute drive of Greenleaf. From the drive-through Christmas in Color at Roaring Springs to the free walk-through glow of Scentsy Commons and the Winter Wonderland Festival at Indian Creek Plaza, here is your 2026 guide to the brightest nights near 20602 Academy Rd.
Christmas in Color at Roaring Springs
Roaring Springs Waterpark in Meridian transforms its grounds into Christmas in Color, a drive-through light show synced to music with more than a mile of animated displays. You stay warm in your car while arches, tunnels, and glowing scenes roll past the windshield. The show typically opens in mid-November and runs through early January; check the venue's site for exact 2026 dates and ticket pricing. About 25 minutes from Greenleaf via I-84.
Scentsy Commons Christmas Lights
For a free, walkable alternative, Scentsy Commons in Meridian strings roughly 900,000 lights across its campus each holiday season, with a self-guided path through glowing trees, archways, and whimsical displays. It opens nightly in mid-November and stays lit through mid-January, and it has become one of the valley's most beloved free traditions. Bundle up, grab a hot drink, and stroll, about 25 minutes from Greenleaf.
Winter Wonderland at Indian Creek Plaza: November 20-22
The closest and most spectacular option is right in Caldwell. The Winter Wonderland Festival opens Friday, November 20 through Sunday, November 22, 6:00 to 9:00 PM, with more than 1.5 million lights along Indian Creek, Idaho's only outdoor ice-skating ribbon, Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, the city tree lighting, and a winter market. The light display stays on from the weekend before Thanksgiving through mid-January 2027, free admission, just 11 minutes from 20602 Academy Rd. Read our full preview.
Winter Garden aGlow at the Idaho Botanical Garden
The Idaho Botanical Garden in Boise lights up its grounds with Winter Garden aGlow from November 28 through December 31, 6:00 to 9:00 PM each evening. Thousands of lights wrap the garden's trees, and the winter-sculpted grounds make for a serene evening stroll about 40 minutes from Greenleaf via I-84 east. It is a favorite for families and a beautiful way to spend a December evening.
Canyon County Christmas Show and the Festivals of Trees
Holiday shopping and lights pair up all month. The Canyon County Christmas Show fills the Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa November 20-22 with more than 200 vendors, handmade gifts, and holiday market finds for a small admission. The Saint Alphonsus Festival of Trees decorates the Boise Centre November 24-30 with elaborately themed trees and holiday displays, and the Canyon County Festival of Trees follows in Nampa November 29-30 with its Christmas tree lighting and Shop Small Saturday. Together they turn the weeks after Thanksgiving into a rolling holiday celebration, all within an easy drive of Greenleaf.
Winter Concerts: Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Mannheim Steamroller
Two of the season's biggest touring shows land close to home. Trans-Siberian Orchestra brings The Ghosts of Christmas Eve to ExtraMile Arena in Boise on Friday, November 27, and Mannheim Steamroller Christmas plays the Ford Idaho Center Arena in Nampa on Sunday, December 13. Both are longtime family holiday traditions, and both are an easy night out from Greenleaf. Tickets through the venues.
