Western Idaho Fair: Opens August 21

Idaho's largest state fair kicks off on Friday, August 21 and runs through Sunday, August 30 at Expo Idaho in Boise. The 10-day fair features carnival rides, midway games, livestock exhibits, rodeo events, demolition derbies, and a packed concert series. The grandstand lineup includes Brantley Gilbert, Skillet, Third Eye Blind, Ice-T's Art of Rap Showcase, and Lee Brice.

It is about a 40-minute drive from Greenleaf to Expo Idaho, making it a perfect weekend outing. The opening weekend (August 21 to 23) is especially lively, with free daily entertainment and the full midway in operation. Bring the family for a day of classic fair fun or catch a headliner concert in the evening.

Farm to Fork Farmers Market and Tuesdays on the Creek

Every Tuesday through September 29, the Farm to Fork Farmers Market takes over Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Fresh local produce, artisan breads, local honey, crafts, and prepared foods fill the plaza. From 6:00 to 9:00 PM, Tuesdays on the Creek brings live music to the outdoor stage. This Tuesday, August 18, is a perfect chance to grab dinner from a food vendor, browse the market stalls, and enjoy live music under the late summer sky. Just 11 minutes from Greenleaf.

Meridian Monday Night Market

Tonight, Monday, August 17, from 4:00 to 9:00 PM, the Meridian Monday Night Market takes over Main Street in downtown Meridian. Farm-fresh goods, artisan vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment create a lively community atmosphere. It is about a 20-minute drive from Greenleaf and a great option for a Monday evening outing.

Greenleaf Farmers Market: Wednesday Afternoons

Closer to home, the Greenleaf Farmers Market runs every Wednesday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM on Highway 19. It is a small but growing market where you can pick up fresh local produce, baked goods, honey, and handmade crafts. For anyone living at 20602 Academy Rd, it is just a few minutes down the road and the perfect midweek stop.

Looking Ahead

August 23 marks the start of the final full week of summer, and the Treasure Valley events calendar stays strong through fall. The Indian Creek Festival and ICA Finals Rodeo arrive in September, pumpkin patches open in October, and the Winter Wonderland ice skating rink returns to Indian Creek Plaza in November. Living in Greenleaf means you are close enough to enjoy all of it while returning home to the peace and quiet of rural Canyon County at the end of the night.
