Summer and Fall Events in Greenleaf and the Treasure Valley: Your 2026 Calendar

· By Paul Knighton

August is in full swing in the Treasure Valley, and the calendar ahead is packed with community events that make living in Greenleaf and the surrounding area so rewarding. Whether you are a longtime resident or considering a move to 20602 Academy Rd, here is what is happening now and through the rest of 2026.

August 2026: Can't-Miss Events

August is one of the most event-packed months of the year in the Treasure Valley. Here are the highlights:

Caldwell Night Rodeo (August 18 to 22, 2026). One of the region's premier rodeo events, the Caldwell Night Rodeo draws top competitors from across the country for five nights of bull riding, barrel racing, roping, and family entertainment. It has been a Canyon County tradition for decades and is a must-see for anyone living in or near Greenleaf. Just 11 minutes from home, it is an easy evening out.

Western Idaho Fair (August 21 to 30, 2026). Held at Expo Idaho in Boise, the Western Idaho Fair is the state's largest fair, featuring carnival rides, livestock exhibits, live concerts, and every kind of fair food you can imagine. About 40 minutes from Greenleaf, it is a perfect weekend outing for the whole family.

Boise Soul Food Festival (August 8, 2026). Taking place at Julia Davis Park in Boise, this celebration of Black culture through food, live music, and dancing is a vibrant community event worth the drive.

Weekly Favorites: Farmers Markets

Summer evenings in Greenleaf are best spent at the Greenleaf Farmers Market, which runs every Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM across from downtown on Highway 19. It is a small but growing market with local produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts. The 208 Night Market in Caldwell runs every Friday and Saturday throughout the season and features even more vendors, food trucks, and live entertainment. Living at 20602 Academy Rd means both markets are just minutes away.

September: Fall Festivals Begin

September in Canyon County means harvest season, and the community calendar reflects the agricultural heart of the region.

Meat & Tater BBQ Fest & Car Show (September 2026). This Greenleaf-area tradition brings together barbecue competitors, classic car enthusiasts, and community members for a day of food, fun, and friendly competition. It is exactly the kind of event that makes small-town living special.

Indian Creek Festival (September 2026). Caldwell's flagship fall event features a car show, live music, a cardboard kayak race on Indian Creek, vendor booths, and a food court. Free admission makes it one of the best values in local entertainment.

Greenleaf Fall Festival & Tractor Pull (September 2026). This beloved community tradition celebrating Greenleaf's agricultural roots features tractor competitions, a car show, helicopter rides, vendor booths, and plenty of food. It is a highlight of the fall calendar and draws visitors from across the region.

October: Harvest and Halloween Fun

Several farms in the Greenleaf and Caldwell area open for pumpkin picking, corn mazes, hayrides, and harvest activities in October. The Sunnyslope Wine Trail marks the grape harvest with special events, winemaker dinners, and tastings at more than a dozen wineries. The autumn colors across the farmland surrounding Greenleaf are stunning, and a Sunday drive through the countryside is a simple pleasure that never gets old.

November and December: Holiday Season

As the weather cools, the community warms up. Caldwell's Winter Wonderland at Indian Creek Plaza returns with over a million lights, an outdoor ice skating rink, visits with Santa, carriage rides, and holiday music. It draws over 30,000 visitors annually. Greenleaf's own Community Christmas Celebration at Greenleaf Friends Church brings neighbors together for caroling, a nativity program, and that unmistakable small-town holiday spirit.
