Indian Creek Festival 2026: Your Complete Weekend Plan

· By Paul Knighton

One week from today, the 23rd Annual Indian Creek Festival takes over downtown Caldwell under this year's theme, "It's a Party Down by the Creek." Running Friday, September 18 through Saturday, September 19 at Indian Creek Plaza, it is the closest big festival to Greenleaf and a highlight of the entire fall calendar, just 11 minutes from 20602 Academy Rd. Here is your complete plan for the weekend.

Friday, September 18: The Party Kicks Off 6-9 PM

Friday evening runs 6:00 to 9:00 PM and sets the tone for the weekend. The classic car cruise rolls through downtown Caldwell with live music on the plaza, and there is plenty new for 2026: the Elevate VR Mobile Gaming Party Experience brings interactive virtual-reality and mobile gaming right to the plaza, and a National Drive Electric Month car show joins the traditional classics. First-responder elements and an oldies car show round out the night. Grab dinner at a downtown Caldwell spot, bring a chair, and settle in along the creek.

Saturday, September 19: The Full Day, 7 AM-4 PM

Saturday is the main event, running 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Start with the Fireman's Breakfast in the morning, then wander the classic car and motorcycle show, the vendor marketplace, and the food court. Watch the Chalk the Block sidewalk chalk competition (this year's theme is "Once Upon a Sidewalk" at the 6th Ave Plaza), cheer the tug-of-war, and check out 4-H activities for the kids. The can't-miss moment is the signature cardboard kayak race down Indian Creek in the afternoon, when homemade cardboard boats take to the water for laughs and glory. Admission is free.

The Dog Costume Contest: Bring the Family, and the Dog

One of the weekend's most beloved traditions returns: the annual dog costume contest. Local dogs dress up in themed costumes and parade for judging, and it is as adorable as it sounds. If you are considering 20602 Academy Rd, note the fully fenced yard and automatic irrigation make it a wonderful place for a dog of your own, with the festival just down the road for the whole family.

How to Make the Most of It From Greenleaf

  • Arrive early Saturday for the Fireman's Breakfast and prime car-show viewing before the midday crowd.
  • Bring chairs and cash for the food court, and plan a spot along the creek for the kayak races.
  • Make it a two-day weekend: Friday night for the cruise and VR gaming, Saturday for the full festival.
  • Stay nearby at the Sunnyslope Wine Trail for a vineyard stop before or after, just 15 minutes from home.

Why This Is the Best Festival Weekend to Live Near Greenleaf

A weekend like this is a big reason people choose Greenleaf. From 20602 Academy Rd you can be parked in downtown Caldwell in 11 minutes for the car show, enjoy the festival all day, then return to a quiet, private rural road with a stone fire pit, a fully fenced yard, and a powered shop ready for whatever projects inspire you. You get a full Treasure Valley event calendar without giving up the peace of small-town Idaho.
